Greenwich Street Pastor Launch

Woolwich Central Baptist Church, 18th September 2009

Friday 18th September was the first night's operation for the Greenwich Street Pastors. Working together with Greenwich Council and the local Police, these volunteers from many of the Christian Churches throughout the Borough of Greenwich are going out to listen to, to care, to befriend, to help those out on the streets at night - whoever they may be.

These are photos taken at the launch at Woolwich Central Baptist Church and the first Greenwich team off for their first night's patrol. All volunteers have undergone many weeks of training prior to putting on their distinctive Street Pastor jackets and setting out with the support of their Churches and of Council and Police.

Started by Ascension Trust, a Christian Charity, in 2003, Street Pastors already operate in many London Boroughs and in towns and cities across the UK and in many other cities internationally. Visit the Street Pastor Website for more details
